THE MISSING PIECE

AI agents are only as useful as the context they can access.

The problem

Your AI agent can reason, calculate, compare options, and explain tradeoffs. But it cannot give truly useful financial advice unless it understands your actual financial life.

Most tools only see part of the picture: spending, budgets, investments, or subscriptions. Others require you to trust a large cloud provider with deeply sensitive financial context.

The solution

Fin gives you a complete, structured financial profile that can be used by you, your apps, and your personal AI agent.

Instead of guessing, your agent can reason from your actual income, spending, investments, insurance coverage, debt, goals, and family context.

Fin gives your agent the data. Your agent gives you the insight.

AI AGENT INTEGRATION

Give your agent
real financial context

Most AI financial advice is generic because the agent does not know your real financial life. Fin changes that.

Fin organizes your accounts, transactions, budgets, investments, insurance, debt, goals, and forecasts into a financial profile your personal AI agent can securely query through an MCP server.

Powered by MCP — Model Context Protocol
Ask your agent:
?"Can I afford to buy a house next year?"
?"Am I saving enough for retirement?"
?"Which subscriptions should I cancel?"
?"Should I choose the HSA plan or the lower-deductible PPO?"
?"How much cash should I keep with my income volatility?"
?"What will my net worth look like in 10 years if I increase retirement contributions by 3%?"
?"What tax categories should I review before filing?"
FULL PICTURE DECISIONS

Built for real financial decisions

These are not just budgeting questions. They are full-picture financial questions.

HSA vs PPO

Compare health insurance plans with your actual health costs and tax situation.

Tax Preparation

Tag deductibles throughout the year so filing is organized, not last-minute.

Retirement Planning

Model how changes to contributions affect your projected net worth over time.

Debt Payoff

Compare payoff strategies against your cash flow and savings goals.

Large Purchases

See the real impact of a car, home, or major expense on your financial picture.

Emergency Fund

Know exactly how many months of expenses you can cover at any moment.

Insurance Coverage

Understand gaps in life, health, auto, and disability coverage in context.

Family Planning

"Can we afford another child?" answered with your real numbers.

RULES ENGINE

Built for people
who want control

Most budgeting apps make you clean up your finances by hand. Fin gives you a powerful rules engine so your financial data gets cleaner over time.

Create rules that automatically categorize transactions, tag expenses, identify tax-related spending, organize income, and keep your budget accurate.

The more rules you create, the smarter your financial profile becomes.

Example rules
IF merchant contains "Netflix"
THEN categorize as Subscriptions
IF merchant contains "restaurant" or "dining"
THEN tag as Business meal for tax review
IF amount > $1,000 and type is income
THEN categorize as Salary
IF merchant contains "daycare" or "preschool"
THEN categorize as Family expenses
IF merchant contains "charity" or "donation"
THEN tag as Charitable donation for tax season
TRANSPARENT PRICING

Budgeting should be affordable

Most budgeting apps charge the same price whether you connect one account or twenty. Fin is different.

$2.99 /month includes 2 synced accounts
+
$0.75 /month per additional synced account
Save 20% with annual billing
Synced accounts Monthly price Annual (effective monthly)
2 accounts Starter$2.99/mo~$2.39/mo
3 accounts$3.74/mo~$2.99/mo
4 accounts$4.49/mo~$3.59/mo
5 accounts$5.24/mo~$4.19/mo
10 accounts$8.99/mo~$7.19/mo

Manual accounts are free. Accounts you add yourself, import, or keep local do not change your price. Only active accounts synced through a supported financial data provider count.

Financial clarity should not cost $15/month just because you have a simple setup. You only pay more when Fin has more banking infrastructure overhead to support.

Competitor pricing and features can change. This comparison focuses on Fin's intended product direction: local-first privacy, AI-agent connectivity, full financial profile coverage, and transparent account-based pricing.

Could you build this yourself? Yes. Should you have to?

With AI today you could build your own local finance app, connect Plaid, design a database, build rules, add forecasting, create an MCP server, manage encryption, handle account syncing, and maintain the app over time.

But the real cost is not just Plaid fees. It is the time, tokens, debugging, maintenance, security decisions, and product work required to keep it reliable.

Build your own ~$0.50/account/mo in data connection costs + development time, AI tokens, maintenance, security work, and ongoing fixes

ABOUT FIN

Why I built this

Fin started because I was frustrated with my budgeting app.

I wanted better rules. I wanted cleaner transactions. I wanted a system that could help me prepare for tax season instead of leaving me with a pile of uncategorized financial history at the end of the year.

At first, Fin was just a better way to understand my own money: spending, income, investments, categories, and cash flow.

Then AI agents started getting useful.

I realized the missing piece was not another chatbot. It was the financial context behind the chatbot. An agent can answer generic questions without your data. But it cannot help you make deeply personal financial decisions unless it understands your actual financial life.

That changed the vision for Fin.

Fin became a full financial profile data layer - a secure place to organize your accounts, transactions, investments, insurance, goals, forecasts, and life context so your personal agent can help you make better financial decisions.

The goal is not to replace your judgment. The goal is to give you better context.

Fin exists because financial clarity should be affordable, private, and intelligent. Charging almost $15/month to someone with one or two accounts felt wrong to me.

So Fin is built differently: transparent pricing, local privacy options, cloud convenience when you want it, and an AI-first financial profile designed for the next generation of personal agents.

Questions Fin helps you answer:
  • "Should I choose the higher-premium HSA plan or the lower-deductible plan without an HSA?"
  • "Can we afford another child?"
  • "Are we saving enough?"
  • "What should I do before tax season?"
  • "What tradeoffs am I missing?"
These are not just budgeting questions. They are full-picture financial questions.
